All of the foregoing points were covered in my appearance before the MEC. In addition, the MEC posed several questions, to which I attempted to be responsive. Thereafter, Captains Gitt and Richardson were given the floor and an opportunity for further comment on this subject was made available. I might add that, in my view, Captain Tully and the MEC received me in friendly, courteous and attentive fashion, for which they have my respect and appreciation.

No formal action was taken by the MEC as a result of this meeting. Captain Tully and others present indicated in unequivocal fashion that they were whole-heartedly in support of our effort to change the regulation, and indeed, Captain Tully expressed a view that no action should be taken by the MEC which would, in any way, impede the Committee's efforts in that direction. As a result of statements made during the meeting, I have little doubt that the following is an accurate reflection of the EAL-MEC position.

(1) They are unwilling for the Age 60 Committee to communicate further with the EAL management concerning flight employment opportunities for age-retired pilots;

(2) They are opposed to employment of such persons by Eastern in any capacity other than line pilot;

(3) They are strongly in support of this Committee's effort to obtain a relaxation of rescission of FAR ยง121.383 (c) and are prepared to provide such assistance in this objective, including join contacts with Eastern's management, as may be appropriate.

With kind regards,
Sincerely,

Herbert A. Levy
