Cohen and Weiss

Mr. Charles H. Ruby -3- October 12, 1967

Although Congress at the present time has under consideration bills which, if passed, would ban discrimination based on age, examination of the bills does not render much comfort. In the first place, the proposed action is directed to employers and we are dealing here with a Government regulation. Moreover, the proposed law has a provision which would make non-discriminatory an age limitation related to a particular occupation. Of course, this is said only in terms of the bills as they now exist. Obviously, changes may take place prior to actual passage.

With kind regards,
Sincerely,
