Dear Bob:

The attached resolution 68-6 dated January 29, 1968, has been circulated to every MEC member across this country.

As you know, I have been the Chairman of Eastern Air Lines' Retirement Committee, as provided in Article XV of the Variable Benefit Retirement Plan for the Eastern Pilots, for several years and also Chairman of the Air Line Pilots Association's National Retirement and Insurance Committee.

In the latter capacity, I have been working with most all of these MEC's in an effort to establish ALPA policy in the field of Retirement and Insurance and must later this year submit, for their approval, recommendations in this field.

I recognize that this resolution does not direct itself to the of EAL MEC Retirement Committee of which I am a member, but to the EAL MEC Retirement Committee appointed for the sole purpose of making the FAA revoke its age 60 retirement rule.

Bob, the work in the field of retirement is so deep and complex, that we have insisted that in order for us to perform at maximum efficiency, we must stay out of the political activities of the Association.

I feel that this resolution may leave the impression with many of the MEC"s that the problem referred to in 68-6 originated in the Committee to which I am Chairman. Nothing could be further from the truth. The working relationship that I have experienced with President Ruby in the area of both Eastern's retirement problems and those on the National Retirement and Insurance Committee, has been one of full cooperation and encouragement during my many years in this field.

Bob, please give this the same distribution to clear up any possible question to whom this resolution is referring.

Sincerely yours,

J.J. O'Donnell, Chairman
EAL MEC Retirement Committee
