to check out captains in these aircraft in order of seniority as had been customary in the past, we had best change our plans. He advised that based on the Air Force's experience, we would find only a few of our younger, more alert and capable captains would be able to make the transition.

When we actually procured these aircraft and began transitioning crews to them, we found this not to be the case. After a man had once familiarized himself with some of the pecularities [[peculiarities]] of some of the flight characteristics of swept-wing jet aircraft, we experienced no more difficulty in transitioning to these aircraft than we had in the case of previous types.

I trust the above will be of some assistance to you.

Sincerely,
John
