PETER CRAVEN, FORMER WORLD EXECUTIVE, TO JOIN CONTINENTAL AIRLINES

Peter T. Craven, former v.p. and treasurer of World Airways, will become v.p. -overseas services and contracts at Continental Airlines on March 25. Craven will be in charge of CAL's Military Airlift Command operations over the Pacific. Prior to joining World in 1960, he was senior v.p. and treasurer of Riddle Airlines, Miami, Fla.

SPEAS FIRM PLANS STUDY OF GENERAL AVIATION

R. Dixon Speas Associates will conduct a study  of general aviation for the Utility Airplane Council of the Aerospace Industries Assn. The study, which will be completed in four to five months, will cover the current impact of general on the economy with forecasts of growth through 1980.

General aviation manufacturers hope to develop additional data to supply to national and local government groups and other aviation interests to aid in planning for air transportation facilities.

UAL POSTS PASSENGER GAIN AT SEATTLE-TACOMA AIRPORT

United Air Lines traffic at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in 1967 made substantial increases over the previous year. The biggest gain was in passenger traffic, with 1,861,749 boarding or deplaning, a gain of 42.8 percent over 1966. Express and freight gained 29.7 percent and mail 23.1 percent. Loss of traffic during the Machinists' strike in the summer of 1966 is partly accountable for the unusual increases.

CORRECTION: Wayne M. Hoffman, Flying Tiger board chairman, has been executive v.p.-New York Central Railroad. He was not executive v.p.-Pennsylvania Railroad as the DAILY erroneously reported on March 19.

GREECE will request entry for Olympic Airways to Chicago through Montreal in civil air talks that opened yesterday in Washington.

COMMERCIAL CREDIT Equipment Corp. will open a regional aircraft financing and leasing office in Atlanta, Ga. on April 1.

THE HEARING scheduled yesterday before the National Mediation Board concerning United Air Lines, International Assn. of Machinists, and Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Assn. in a representation dispute was postponed. The new date set is April 8, for 10 a.m. at 1230 16th St., N. W., Washington, D.C.

DON T. McCONE has been elected president and chief operating officer of Aeroquip Corp. McCone had been executive v.p. since June 1961. Peter F. Hurst, who founded the company, will remain board chairman and chief executive officer.

DIRECTORS OF Flying Tiger Line have declared a cash dividend of 10 cents a share to shareholders of record March 29 payable April 19. This current payout is the second under the new annual cash dividend policy adopted last year.

LAN-Chile has become the 40th airline to take delivery of Boeing 727 tri-jets. The plane joins more than 500 727s already flying with 39 world airlines.
