Further, Captain Gitt stated that it didn't make that much difference to him back at that time, and further, that he was aware that Eastern had men over sixty who were check pilots at the time, and "since there were provisions to circumvent it, as you might put it, it made no difference" (T. 165). [In one question by Mr. Weiss he mentions that a 'special dispensation by Eastern's Board of Directors' could circumvent this.] (T. 162). Captain Gitt further explains that there was also a divided opinion as to whether or not the check pilot and flight instructor must have line flight experience periodically. Some Eastern Airline representatives wanted it and some didn't (T. 166). There was, and still is a divided opinion among the pilots concerning the need for this requirement. (T. 168).

Gerard Sorlucco testified that he is, and has been an airline pilot for ten years for Mohawk Airlines and that he takes check rides from time to time. Mohawk Airline has a check pilot or instructor, Captain Gus Crawford, who is sixty-one years of age (T-179).
