A They do, yes.
Q And is it so, that under the Act, Federal AViation Act, that the carrier is required to operate at a higher degree of safety than those requirements established by the Government?
A I am not sure that there is any requirement that they operate at higher standards, but it is made perfectly clear that the standards set forth by the F.A.R. minimum standards, and the carriers, of course, are required to operate in as safe and efficient a manner as possible. They do frequently exceed the F.A.A. requirements, minimum requirements.
MR WEISS: Well, not to belabor the point through a witness, which is an awkward way of doing it, I will tell the Examiner now that we will, at an appropriate point, direct your attention to the statue which imposes upon the carriers the operation of the highest degree of safety
