ORLANDO: monthly luncheons, October through May, Steak & Ale, 640 S. Orlando
Avenue (Highway 17-92) Maitland, 11:30 AM, 2nd Tuesday each month. To find the
restaurant, take I-4 and exit on Lee Road eastbound to the end. Then turn left on 17-92.
Restaurant is 1 1/2 miles on the right. Wives and widows are welcome. The traditional
Valentine Day party held by the three REPA Central Florida luncheon groups, the
Daytona Beach group (who normally meet at the Melbourne Red Lobster), and the
Orlando group (who normally meet at the location above), this year was hosted by the Orlando group. Lovely Rio Pinar Country Club was the site of the gathering of 63
people, courtesy of Club Member Bob Coles. Beautiful table decorations were prepared
by several of our ladies under the direction of Nora Wold. Hangar flying at 11:30
preceded a delightful dinner and a brief program. REPA's world famous travelogist Rudy
Wadle came up from Miami to discuss plans for the eagerly anticipated REPA Cruise and
Convention next October. He answered many questions various persons had, including
the basic question "where shall I park?" It seems Shep and Carol Shepard live within
walking distance of the ship's pier, so we are all going to park in Shep's front yard. Joe
Collins selected lucky numbers, and several door prizes were given out with values
from one dollar to seven million, if you won the lottery. Every lady went home with a
small heart shaped box of soft center candies and a big smile. Jerry Brown took the
enclosed picture of all 63 people with his wide angle lens camera. We think it is a great
shot because it makes we large people look small once again.
