Mr. Mendes Hershman
Special Counsel For Housing
New York Life Insurance Company
51 Madison Avenue
New York, N. Y.

October 1, 1948.
Dear Mr. Hershman;

Sometime this Summer I took it upon myself to call you personally on the telephone with reference to obtaining an apartment at Fresh Meadows Development. You were kind enough to speak to Mr. Mc Kenna at Fresh Meadows and you suggested that I take up my problem with him.

The closed copy of a letter to Mr. Mc Kenna will bringyou up to date on my particular problem. I know that I am one of very many thousands of people trying to locate suitable housing and that my particular problem may be A commonplace one; But I wish to impress you with my bitter disappointment when knowing that I had an apartment and just because I thought it more expedient to wait for the apartment of my choice, I am now without any apartment at all.

I had placed great hopes inbeing located at "Fresh Meadows" this fall. If I had known that I would run into this 'stumbling block' I would have looked elsewhere.

It is my sincere hope in writing this letter to find in Mr. Mc Kenna a more helpfull and accommodating person.

With kindest regards, I am,

Sincerely Yours,

Michael A. Gitt
