Dear Jerry and Arthur:

On March 5, 1953 we received a complaint from the subject person regarding the house he purchased from you in the amount of $32,500.00 giving the imperfections as stated by him to you at frequent intervals.

On March 20, 1953 Mr. O.J. Hartwig, our Executive Vice-President, wrote you in regard to this matter.

On Friday, April 10, at the request of Mr. Gitt, the writer made a personal inspection of the premises and I believe that Mr. Gitt has a justifiable complaint. The following is the result of my inspection.

Basement

(1) The 12 x 3 carrying girder mounted on brick columns on the crawl space were not originally shimmed, with the result that the first floor sagged and was subsequently jacked up by your men, doing a rather poor job. When they raised the floor they put two by fours in an upright position, breaking the crawl space floor for these two by fours to rest on, and then they did not shim the girders. The crawl space floor is damaged, the 12 x 3 girders should be shimmed correctly, the two by fours removed, and the crawl space floor repaired.

(2) The concrete job covering all of the basement window wells is very poor. This should be rectified.

(3) Because of the jacking of the building the stairway to the cellar was damaged, very noticeable so, and in dangerous condition. This should be rectified.
