Articles of agreement made and entered into between H.W. Cotter Sr of the first part and the negroes or servants now working or cultivating the crop of the second part, to wit, men Martin Ben Alick & Anderson Women Aggie Elen Ann & Rachel Girls. Martha Maria Moose Maria Cotter Boys John Shederick. The said Cotter Sr on the first part agreeing to keep all of the above mentioned hands the ballance of this year and to feed clothe and if necessary pay Doctor Bills as he has done heretofore and further agrees if said negroes or sevants remain and cultivate and save the present crop in good order and work and obey orders as heretofore doing any work on the farm or elsewhere that they may be called on by said Cotter Sr to perform to add sufficient quantity of cotton out of his own crop to their crop to make them three Bales of Cotton weighing five hundred pounds each Should said negroes wantonly refuse or neglect to do their work faithfully then said negroes forfit their claims to any part of said crop agreed and entered into July 1st 1865 given under our hand & seal
