Brownsville Feb 15th 1866
Head Quarts, Freedman's
Bureau Haywood County Tenn.

Genl C. B. Fisk

Dear Sir
Early in January I made a settlement Mr. D P Williams of this county, and sun dry freed, persons (formerly his slaves) who worked for him during the year 1865, Said Williams thought he ought not to be required to pay them any thing for their services, and consequently took on an appeal to your Court, I unendurably forwarded to you the papers in said case, with a statement of facts connected therewith, Up to this time I have not heard anything from you relative to this case, My object in writing this letter is to ascertain whether or not said papers reached you, and if so to beg you in behalf of said freedman,
