Elkton March 8th 1866

Dear Sir
On yesterday there was perpetrated an infamous outrage upon Mr Nash Stinnett and two of his sons by a Lt and a squad of Negro Soldiers sent here by an order of The Commander stationed at Nashville Tenn, upon information given by John Black an agent of the Freedmans Burea. The Gentlemen arrested our citizens of our county. They are honorable hard working law abiding men, guilty of no crime against the Laws of their country but notwithstanding this they were seized and carried off from their Family and friends to Nashville Tennessee witnessed their distressed condition but could afford them no relief through conscious of their innocence of the charges preferred against them. We wish you to go in person before the President and make know to him the following facts which you can fully endorse a true.
