General,
I fear you will consider me troublesome, but I desire to make a statement of facts for your consideration.

After hours after returning home with my mule, which was restored to me on Saturday, by the Sheriff, as I wrote you, Capt Sizemore came with an armed guard to my house, took the mule, arrested me & bade me prepare to go to Chattanooga, the nearest Military Post. I was brought under guard to this place, placed in a room, with guards at the door, instructed to admit no one, except upon official business; told that I would be put in jail that night & until a guard could be procured to accompany me; that no bail would be taken. In this condition I was kept until near sunset, when I was released on condition
