that I would pay the expenses of my arrest, amounting to Seven Dollars, & agree to abandon my action of replevin in the Circuit Court, until there was a settlement of the question before the Board or rather Bureau.

To these conditions, I was compelled to submit, or be thrown into jail & be taken from my family & business for an indefinite period, just as I am about to commence planting corn. In my ignorance of the method of proceeding in an action before the bureau, I beg the privilege, if the matter must proceed before Capt S., (who has already prejudged the case,) to know what are my rights & privileges.
