Office Supt. B.R.F.& A.L.
Murfreesboro Sept. 25" '66
Lt. Grossbeck A.A.G.
Nashville Tenn.
Lieut
I have the honor to report that I arrived here last evening found my office as I left it. &c.

On inquiry I learn that Lt. Nelson is at his home in Ohio; from what I can learn he was undecided as to whether he would accept the position offered him or not.

But if agreeable to Genl. Lewis. Capt. Doughity of this place will accept the position, he is a practical lawyer a business man and I imagine better suted for the place than Nelson as he has been here a long time and having been in business knows nearly every man in the County, black and white; he will accept the appointment conditionaly. Should Nelson return to turn everything over to him in case of his appointment, should he not return to continue in the office (over)
