Bureau RF&AL Sub-Dist of Memphis Sub-Asst Commrs Office Memphis Tenn. July 9th 1867 Bt Maj Genl W.P. Carlin Asst Comrs &c Nashville Tenn. General I see by the Papers that surg. Swarzwelder has thought proper to publish my dispatch to you in answer to your telegram of June 27th asking if there was any cholera here & if so how much. The daily papers of this city state that there has been no cases of cholera here this summer as will be seen from extracts from their columns which I have cut out & attached hereto. In reply to their denial I need only to state that I have on file at this office a list of the names of seventy persons showing their late residence & the date of their death who have been report as having died of cholera during the period stated in my dispatch of the 27th of last month.
