Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
Knox County, Tennessee.
SUPERINTENDENT'S OFFICE,
Knoxville, Tenn., March 6th, 1867.

Lieut. S. W. Groesbeck
A.A.A. Gen'l. Bureau R.F. & A.L.
Nashville Tenn

Lieut.

I have the honor to report that I am and have been walter bound for the past two weeks and my prospects instead of brightening are becomeing more gloomy as the rain continues and the streams are sill rising.

The bridge across the River at this Place washed away early this morning and all communication South (the direction I wanted to go next) is completely cut off. To attempt to travel over the country now would be useless, and if I can have your consent I will remain where I am until such time as I can again resume the road; if not agreeable, so inform me and I will report at Nashville as soon as I can get there.

I do not wish you to think I am idling my time away, which I assure you is not the case.
