has since left that side of the river taken refuge in this City to avoid the threatened murder and Mrs Johns is living in greatest danger and she realizes it, but is so situated that she cannot leave her home and stock.

This arrest is recommended by several prominent and law abiding citizens, and I have been urged by them to make this application for Military Aid as something would then be done.

Should my request be complied with and the soldiers sent, please direct them to remain at the Depot (where they will arrive at 6 P.M.) and the officer in charge can find me at the National Hotel, and inform me of their arrival when we can set about making the arrest which will have to be done between midnight & day light. and might not succeed at that for several nights.

I dont consider that five men are necessary to make the arrest, but will be needed to surround the house and overcome any resistance, that might be made.

Lay this matter before Genl. Carlin promptly if you please, and I presume he will see the necessity of immediate action.

I have the honor to be Capt.
Very Respectfully
