I have the honor to respectfully acknowledge the receipt of Your communication of the 8th inst. enclosing my appointment as Agent Bureau R F & A L and in reply would state that having been a friend to the Colored People all my life and believing that they are entitled to that great inalienable right Life Liberty And the pursuit of happiness, which all nations should guarantee to her people
I respectfully accept the Appointment and I shall endeavor in the future as in the past to use my utmost endeavors to promote the general welfare of the Freed People as well as Amicable relations between the two Races
I have to respectfully herewith enclose my Oath of Office Sworn before a Court of Record  as [[obiretuel?]],
