I requested Sergt Douglass so to do, stating to him the Circumstances and also requested him by and through his own suggestion to take the man to his quarters, and keep him until he was sober, the man was turned loose by Sergt Douglass that night and was not tied or confined, for the which he received the personal thanks of the Mayor, if any other arrests were made by any of the troops here stationed at any other times, it was done voluntarily or by the personal request of the Mayor or the Civil Officers -

Spec - 4th
Complaints have been made of large amounts of Manure accumulating in the Stables, the Sergt also complained of the accumulation. I stated to him that I could procure no team, he replied that if I would get a wagon, he would furnish Horses and would remove it, which was done by his advice and suggestion.

Spec 5th 
I made no charge to the Government but accepted such receipts as were given to me, and forwarded to the Commanding Officer of the Detachment there stationed, on which I received Vouchers for only about $158.00/100, while my expenditures in furnishing forage rations &c in all amounted to about $225.00 -

Spec 6th
At one time Sergt Douglass informed me that he needed forage for his Horses, I purchased Corn some 3 miles from town, I could procure no team to haul the same, at his suggestion and proposition, I secured a wagon when he of his own accord took 2 Horses, I furnishing a hand to assist them, and haul to their quarters a load of Corn.
