Dear Joan and Bill:

Sorry I called when you were so involved in an opening. The additional space must give you a grand feeling.

About the sale of a black sculpture to your client. The sale prices that I quoted include a 1/3 commission to you. You should always get your 1/3 in any sale you make; you should not forfeit your commission. These prices were gauged by sculpture sold in the past. I am sorry that they are too expensive, but I feel it unfair to those collectors who have already paid the full amount. If this person cannot afford to pay the full amount at once, I am quite willing to have it paid in installments.

The shipping company that took everything to Los Angeles is
Savage Transportation Co.
3689 Bandini Blvd.
Los Angeles, California

This company only ships. They do not pack. Would you please get an estimate on shipping it back? The frame around the door could probably be used to crate it. The crates for the drawings and sculpture could be used over. I paid around $20.00 for shipping. Also if you could please get an estimate on crating. If it is too expensive, Albert will rent or borrow a truck one week-end before October 1, to pick everything up. If you don't have time to write a letter, just drop me a postcard with packing and shipping estimates.

I'm sorry that I've been such an utter financial failure for you. But I'm happy that your other artists are doing well. Your expansion indicates a bigger future for you. Congratulations!!

I'm invited to have a show in Rochester, N.Y. this fall or winter. The fall is already here, so I think it will be late winter or spring. I want to show here at home in October or November.

Albert sends his love to you both.

Love,
Ruth
