Dear Ruth and Al,

Thank you for your nice letter. It seems a long time since you were here, and it was fun, though I know it was lots of work for you both.

Though you have many ardent admirers, we have not yet sold anything. However, yesterday the Junior Art Council Selections Committee from the L.A. County Museum came, were enchanted with your sculptures, and asked to borrow four of them (Nos. 4, 11, 13, & 15) for the opening of their new rental gallery. They want to hang them in the reception room. I believe this is good exposure, and may lead to sales. Just a couple of days ago a painting of ours sold which had been out on rental for four months. As you know, when a purchase is made, the rental fee is deducted from the purchase price.

Your doors have made a great hit, and Morris and we would love to keep them here during his show (May 14 - June 23) if you agree. Harry Franklin of the Franklin Gallery of Primitive Art who makes a hobby of doors, says they are the most beautiful doors he has seen anywhere in the world, with which sentiment we are in hearty accord.

We looked again at the slides of Rene Pinchuk. Maybe sometime when I am in San Francisco, I will be able to see her work. I will return them next week.

Please let me know if you have any objections to the Rental Gallery idea, as they will be picking them up this week. (Opening is May 15) I know several of these girls personally, and have found them very reliable and concientious--and hard working.

We all send love to you and the children.

Joan
