Yours of the 22d, inquiring as to Gun Factory case, is just received. The case was tried at the term of U.S. Court just adjourned. It was erroneously reported to have been compromised. There was, however, no compromise whatever. The Court decided, in conformity with the opinion of Mr. Bates when Attorney General, that the effect of the owners of the property having taken the benefit of the amnesty, was that they were entitled to have their property surrendered to them, although the Information was
