The freedmens school under the supervision of Rev. J. J. Palter is well attended and every thing is done by Mr Palter to make his school one of the best in the state.

The Civil authorities are still trying cases ariseing from violation of contract, or from debt, as the case may be, and as yet I have heard no complaints from freedmen that justice has been denied them"
