State of feeling on the part of citizens to the Freedmen, and the Bureau, also views and suggestions of the Superintendent

(The feeling of the Citizens toward the Bureau and Freedmen, is much the same as heretofore reported; gradually improving, I think, 

Bvt. Capt. Saml. Walker Supt. at Knoxville Tenn, reports: "Public sentiment with reference to the Bureau Freedmen &c, seems to be improveing, The Political excitement which existed some time since, has somewhat abated, and the People seem to have settled down and come to the conclusion to mind their own business, and let the Freedmen do the same.) The amount of rent collected during the present month, is very small and the reason for this is = I think = the order directing unpaid rents to be relinquished from date of pardon, or amnesty, instead of order making restoration. Many of the former owners who expect to have their property released by the Federal Court at the present term and
