Dr. J. M. Keller, Physician in charge of the General Hospital in this city reports that during the month of January 88 destitute colored persons were inmates of and received medical treatment at that institution. There were fourteen deaths out of this number, a majority of which were old cases and resulted from Pneumonia. This Hospital is conducted at the expense of the City and is for the accommodation of both white and black. Too much praise can hardly be bestowed upon Dr. Keller for the thorough and efficient [[crossed out]] and efficient [[/crossed out]] manner in which he has conducted this Hospital since its transfer by the Bureau to the City authorities in May last.
