The state of feeling on the part of the Citizens in this Sub Dist towards freedmen is about as stated in my last report.

In some instances assaults have been made upon freedmen, but in no instance as coming within my knowledge, have any of the aggressors escaped arrest, and punishment, and as I believe that very many of these arrests were made by the Civil authorities in consequence of the presence of a squad of U.S. Cavalry stationed at these Head Quarters, which squad of cavalry now stationed here. I find indispensable in many instances.

I would further report that a freed woman has for the three weeks past received rations together with her two children, and medical attendance under the following circumstances viz, said woman was in the employ of one of the Civil magistrate in the County
