Hinton G. Hester Agent for Weakly Co. Tenn., has approved 12 contracts embracing 12 hands at seven dollars per month. Seven minors have been apprenticed by the County Court. Mr. Hester reports that "The freedmen are making their own contracts and not submitting them to the Bureau for approval. As a general thing all are being paid for their last years work."

J.J. Holloway, Agent for the Bureau for Fayette Co. reports one colored school, one teacher and eighty scholars. He has done nothing as an Agent during the past month if we are to judge from his report. 450 rations were forwarded to him for distribution to the destitute freedpeople of his district. He has been furnished with the necessary blanks and instructions, but has failed to make any return for these rations. 

The teacher of the Colored School reports that every thing is moving along quietly and that his school is a grand success. J.H. Blakemore, Agent for Gibson County, reports having approved 15 contracts embracing 30 laborers.  He states that, "the freedpeople in this County are slow to contract.
