State of feeling on the part of Citizens to the Freedmen and Bureau, also views and suggestions of the Sub Asst Com'r

There is no change in the feeling on the part of Citizens toward the Bureau or the Freedmen in this sub District, worthy of notes

In consequence of the recent freshet throughout East Tennessee, much suffering has been caused among the poorer classes both white & black who were situated in the inundated district, Bvt. Capt. Saml. Walker, Agent at Knoxville, reports that during the last few days many applications for rations have been made by both white and black, and many of those applying are really suffering." (990) Nine hundred and ninety rations were forwarded to him on the 4th inst. (April 1867) for distribution.

Rev. Herman Bokum Agent at Jonesboro Tenn. reports considerable suffering in some portions of his district, and requests that he be furnished with rations for (12) twelve
