I have the honor to submit the following report of the condition of the affairs in this Sub-District for the month of March 1867.

In Fayette County, 450 rations have been issued to destitute freedpeople affording them most opportune relief. the Civil authorities having as yet neglected to provide for the colored paupers by sending them to the Poor House

The school at Sommerville is in a flourishing condition. There are two teachers and 92 scholars. Gain in number scholars over report for February 12. Average attendance 77. No. males 27. No. females 65. No. over eighteen 14. No. in Alphabet 11. No. who spell and read in easy lessons 42. No. in advanced Readers 39. No. in Geography 11. No. in Arithmetic 24. No. free before the war 3.
