During the Quarters ending on the 31st of March the Sanitary Sergeant of the Metropolitan Police has sent 64 colored person to the Hospital and buried 39 colored paupers. It will be seen by the above that the authorities are disposed to do their duty to the poor, infective of color.

During the last month but two contracts were affirmed at this office, embracing the names of 6 laborers. 
The branch of the Freedmen's Saving and Trust Company in this City is steadily increasing its deposits. The colored people are slowly but surely learning to put confidence in the institution. The amounts of the deposits for the month of March was $3071.31 being a gain over February reports of $1346.13 and over The reports for January of $2563.31.

I have issued to destitute freedpeople in the City of Memphis during the past month 321 rations, and am of the opinion that it will be necessary to continue such assistance in a limited extent during the next sixty days.
