that he has succeeded in procuring for the Colored people of Charleston, at lot for School purposes, and that efforts are being made to raise funds to build a House, also that a colored School has been opened at Ducktown, Polk County under the supervision of Mr. I. E. Rhat, agent of the Copper Mines at that place, and that there are already some forty (40) Scholars, mostly Children of the employees at the Copper Mines, attending the same. 

Mr. Johnston, Agent at Chattanooga reports that the Colored people of Harrison the County Seat of Hamilton County have recently secured a large and Convenient lot, to which they have a valid title, and on which they propose to erect a building for School and Church purposes. He also reports that a School is much needed at Jasper the County Seat of Marion County, where he states that from sixty to eighty children could be got together, but that they have neither building nor teacher, he states that a building could be rented for a nominal sum, and requests that if possible a teacher be sent to that place.
