The county has a poor House and Hospital in Fort Pickering, near this city. The following report will show the number of colored persons who were inmates of the same during the month:

The work of Registering the colored votes has been very lively - during the past month no less than 5527 colored men have been furnished with certificates. It is estimated that there are at least 70000 colored votes in this county. 

Three Hundred and fifty-one rations were issued to the destitute Refugees and Freedmen and 713 rations to the Memphis colored Orphan Asylum during the month. The rations issued to the destitute persons were only given to such as did not come within the law, regaining the counties to take care of its own poor. There were persons who had not lived the 12 months
