The freedmen are inclined to be industrious, energetic, religious, peacable to their fellow men and have a great desire to get an education. there are some low minded ones that are a draw back to society but most of them will get ashamed of their actions and leave the others and do better - they are laboring hard and appreciate the money they get - The whites are mostly rebels and although they have to employ the freedman - in many cases try to swindle them out of all, or part of their pay. making false representations
