I have the honor to make the following report for the month of July, of the condition of the freedmen in the Nashville Sub District as well as of outrages committed upon them.

Joal B. Smith, Agent for the counties of Bedford, Coffee and Franklin Tenn. reports as follows.

The cause of temperance has progressed where there has been an organization instituted. The society at Tullahoma, Coffee Co, now numbers Sixty three (63). New Organizations have not been effected by the Agent during the month, political gatherings having conflicted with appointments for that purpose, and it was deemed advisable that a postponement of this subject, until the present
