I have the pleasure to say that I have been to all parts of the county in the last two weeks and it is with pleasure I can state that in every place I found the freedmen giving satisfaction and working well. The crops look finely and if the freedmen have no bad luck they will make some money this year.

No outrages of any kind have I heard of in my District this month.

J.K. Nelson Agent for the counties of Cannon and Rutherford Tenn. reports as follows.

Lewis Scoby (cold) the supposed murderer of Joe Randolf (cold) about whom a tellegram was sent you on the 13th inst has not yet been arrested and his whereabouts are unknown.

Joe Randolf, to the surprise of all, revived, and it is now believed will recover. The assault as I am told, made by Scoby was entirely unprovoked and malicious - they were hoeing in the field together
