Officer for the "Bureau", notified me a few days since that the Bounty &c. due Colored men, late soldiers, living in this vicinity, would be paid throug this office, and that a list of those whose claims have already been audited, will be forwarded in a few days.

During the month, nine hundred and forty rations have been issued in the District, (540) at Chattanooga, and (400) at Knoxville. As the crops are abundant, and the "Civil Authorities" have generally agreed to place Colored Paupers on the same footing with the Whites, no further issue is considered necessary

Fears are entertained by some that there will be trouble at many points on the day of Election, and that attempts will be made to prevent the Freedmen voting, but as every precaution has been taken by the Civil Authorities to guard against any attempt of this kind, it is hoped that none will be made, and that the election will pass off quietly

Respectfully Submitted
