cases for the Blacks when they know there is very little chances of pay, and whenever they do take up a case, they seem to do their duty impartially. 

Many of the blacks are buying small farms and are providing for themselves manfully. there are few indolent ones and plenty of work for all I encourage them to purchase land and make themselves as independent, as fast as possible  

The majority of the Col'd People in this Section are steady in their habits and seem to be well disposed towards all.

J.B. Coons Agent of Davidson Co states that no outrages have been committed upon the Freedmen of this County during the month of Sept 1867

Labor continues plenty and wages good.
