to the subject of schools in his district that was anticipated by him during the month, but hopes to apply himself to this subject in the present month, and feels assured that the subject being discussed before the freedmen in a proper manner must result in good. Out of a population of nearly 12,000 Freedmen in this district, there are at present not over 300 pupils in attendance at schools 2/3ds of these being of Bedford Co. and the balance 1/3 of the County of Franklin. Arrangements are however being made with the Supt of Education Rev'd D. Burt, whereby a school will be shortly opened in Fullahoma Coffee Co. There seems to be an increasing interest felt by the freedmen in this subject, and as their pecuniary abilities are much greater than heretofore it is hoped they will give the subject deserved attention

Labor
There is a great demand for all classes of laborers, good wages can be had and payment secured. There is but little vagrancy among the freedmen- are industriously engaged, and complaints against them as laborers are very rare.
