A Col'd man named Shade Gwynn was sued for a debt of $40. - his property was levied upon by the Deputy Sheriff of the County, a former rebel, a bay mare, 15 hogs, 15 Bushels of wheat & 2 Beegums; which is quite clear were exempt from execution. I reported the matter to Capt Mohler Atty Genl. who came with me to Viola, examined into the matter & advised the Col'd man to run off the property to get time to have the execution quashed and the Deputy Sheriff will be indicted at the next term of the Criminal Court.

K J Sample, Agent for the Counties of Dekalb Smith and Wilson, states

The schools in this Dist are at present vacant but teachers are expected soon. The cause of education still holds a prominent place in the minds of the Freedman & are making in some locations united efforts to build School Houses & pay also the expenses of teachers

It is a matter of serious complaint among 
the freedmen that justice cannot be obtained by them in the several Courts. last month two loyal Constables and a Magistrate were elected. On application being made to the Co Court by the two Constables for their commissions, they
