Tenn General I have the honor to submit the following report of the condition of Freedmen in the Nashville Sub-District for the month ending November 30th 1867. Capt. George E. Judd Agent at Pulaski Tenn. reports - Schools - It is impossible for me to give the numbers of Scholars attending School throughout this District. Teachers do not report to me and as I am not allowed to travel over the district I cannot keep myself posted. All I can state is that the colored people are very much engaged in the matter of education and are improving very much. It is astonishing to see how fast their little ones learn. The old ones improve too from the interest they take, and from hearing their little ones read and spell. There are many whites who will have to look sharp or they will have hard work to keep equal with the Negro. Much less their Superior
