110. 293. Raleigh N.C. June 2nd 1868 Harp Wyatt Esq. Harpsboro Johnson Co. Braddick Whitley complains that you owe him $32.30/100 a balance due on some cotton you sold for him. Strain John Esq. Wake Co. Sir. Simeon Adkins complains that you owe him $12.00 a balance due for some turpentine you had of him. You will please call at this office and settle and explain this. He also says that you will not let him take the cow away. He paid $15.00 and Mrs Whittley was willing to wait for the remainder. You have no right to keep the cow without a legal process It seems that this matter might be arranged and the man have the use of his cow & unless this can be done, you will please call at this office and explain this matter and save further trouble. He is a discharged soldier I have the papers for his bounty and it is necessary to get his signature before I can get the check for the money. June 3rd 1868 Fuller Thomas Raleigh Alfred Taylor complains that he dropped at or near the Market yesterday $3 50/100 in gold wrapped in a piece of Brown paper. He has proof positive, that you picked it up. Becky Page saw you take it up. Unless you give up to Alfred this money I shall be obliged to put the matter in the Provost Court. Yours Respectfully H.C.
