NARA 332

Hassell N.C. Feb. 21st 1867

Dear Sir
John Sturdivant took the children to Court on Monday last to be bound to him. The Court decided that it had no jurisdiction in the case. I had exhibited to the Court your Bond of Apprenticeship & they said such bindings were not recognized as legal by the laws of North Carolina. And so the matter stands. I return herewith your Bond sent me some time ago & remain
Most truly
