State of N. Carolina   Freedman Labor Contract
Anson County

This Indenture made and entered into on the 25 day of Dec AD 1866 between WA. Barrien of the County of Cabarrus and State of N Carolina of the 1st part and Hany Tyson a freedwoman of the Second part - Witnesseth -  that she the said Hany Tyson, and Children Charles Harriet and Larry, have agreed to work for the said WA Barrien from this date to the first day of Jan A.D. 1868 on his farm in the State of Tenn and to do all Kinds of work common to the farms of the County and all other Kinds of labor  that it is deemed necessary to be done, to do this work faithfull [[faithfully]] and to be respectful in their behavior and deportment, and they shall receive 255.00, Two Hundred and fifty five dollars on the 1st day of Jan A.D. 1868 or a part payment as soon as the crops are gathered and sold, And the said Hany Tyson and children have agreed that time lost by Idleness, absence without leave or sickness shall not be paid for. And the said WA Barrien have agreed to furnish the said Hany Tyson & children with comfortable quarters sufficient rations and  the amount of money above stated and transportation to his farm free of charge And the said Hany Tyson and Children are to furnish their own clothing and pay their Doctor Bill.
