State of N.Ca         Freedman Labor Contract.
Anson County

This Indenture made and entered into on the 25th day of Dec AD 1866 between W.A. Barrien of the County of Cabarrus and State of North Carolina of the first part and Hezekiah Huntley a freedman of the second part - Witnesseth that he the said Hezenkiah Huntley  has agreed to work for the said WA Barrien from this date to the 1st day of Jan A.D. 1868 on his farm in the State of Tenn and to do all kinds of work common to the farms of the Country and all other kinds of labor that it is deemed necessary to be done - to do this work faithfully and to be respectfull in his behavior, and he shall receive One Hundred and Eight Dollars on the 1st day of Jan or a part payment as soon as the crops are gathered and sold, He the said Hezekiah Huntley a freedman further agrees that time lost by Idleness or absence without leave or sickness shall not be paid for. And the said W A Barrien has agreed to furnish the said Hezekiah Huntley with comfortable quarters sufficient rations and transportation to his farm free of charge
And the said Hezekiah Huntley is to furnish his own clothing and pay his doctor Bill.
