Know all Men by these Presents, THAT JP Muds of the County of Gibson, State of Tennessee, are held and firmly bound to the United States of America, in the sum of three Hundred Dollars, for the payment of which I bind myself by these presents, in this Contract; That I am to furnish the person[[strikethrough]]s[[/strikethrough]] whose names are subjoined, (free laborers,) Quarters, Fuel, substantial and healthy Rations, all necessary Medical Attendance, and Supplies in case of sickness, and to pay the said freed persons, John age 20 agrees to work for the year 1866 $144 He clothes himself & pays part of [[strike]] the crop which may be made [[/strike]] Doct bill & pays for all lost time

2. [[strike]] That the said to furnish acres of land, and horses and farming utensils necessary to work said land. [[/strike]]

3. And the said subjoined freed persons are to work under the unction of the employer & not to leave the primses without his consent

4. The laborers to be paid in full before the final disposal of the crop, which is to be raised by them on plantation, in the County of Gibson and the State of Tennessee. 

5. This contract to commence with this date, and close with the year.
