This obligation entered into between W. N. Norment employer and Sam Norment, Ellen Sally and Priss Norment the mother and sisters of Sam Norment above named Witnesseth, that the above named labourers agree to labor on the farm of said employer under the directions and controll of Mr Rufus Archer and they hereby agree that they will be active & faithful as labourers in the field or when not engaged in the crop to be engaged in any other work usual on the farm, and necessary on a farm.

Sam, Ellen, and Sally to work in the field Priss to remain at the house taking care of the children (Six in number, four being Ellens & two Sallys) and engage in any other housework she may be able to perform.

The employer agrees to feed on such food as has been usual on his farm, and pay each at the end of the year, one third of the corn and cotton raised by themselves, to be determined by [[?]] the hands engaged with them on the farm, they clothing themselves & families and each of the mothers, Ellen & Sally allowing a fair compensation  for the board of their children each paying their medical bill, out of the amount due each shall be set apart what they may agree towards a support and compensation to their mothers.

The employer agrees to furnish clothing or advance pay so that they may secure their clothing to be deducted out of the proceeds of their part of the crop.
