Articles of agreement
Entered into this day
Between Perry C. Wilkes
Of the one first and Lena Wilkes and her four children of the other part. (Lena is fifty one years old. Sam. Frank. Stephen and Viginti, her children, are respectively and in order as above named, commencing with Sam sixteen, thirteen eight and six years old.)

I, Perry c Wilkes, promise to give said Lena and her four children their board, and clothing, to the amount they received from me the past year, and also the three fifths of one third of the net proceeds of the lint cotton that is raised the present year on my sixteen acre field, that lies along the West Bank of Richland creek. I likewise promise them, that if they hire hands to help them pick out their cotton, that I will feed their hands free of chage, so long as their hands do good work at the same.

We, Lena, four children, of the second part, do agree to be servants as heretofore, - to be obedient to all of his commands or that of his agents, for the present year. (1866) We are to pay our own doctor bill the present year. We further agree to pay all the wages due hirehands for assisting to house our crop. We also agree, should the crop not be housed by the twenty-fifth of next December, to remain till we house said crop, or forfeit our part of the same. And we further agree, to be responsible to said P,C, Wilkes, or assigns, for all time that we loose the present year by sickness or otherwise, unless lost while on business for the White family.

Given under our hands and seals.
