Know all men by these by these presents, that I H.J. Dean of the county of Hardiman and State of Tennessee have hired a negrow woman Hariette Dean for 50 dollars for 12 months work beginning with this date & ending the last day of December next to be paid in paper curency of the country and out of the proceeds of the crop to be Raised by hur on the plantation of Dulsey Dean of the county & state afforesaid. said negrow woman Hariette is to be furnished with hur usual quantity and quality of clothing, healthy & substantial rations to be paid in full at the close of the contract or before the final disposal of the crop. the said Hariette Dean binds herself to be peacible orderly and industrious to be honest & attentive not to use any insulting language to the white family or her employer but strictly to obey & do what she is told without murmuring or grumbling & not to leave the premacies on which she works without the consent of hur employer or the consent of the white family to inform of anything that is going on wrong or about the plantation that she may have knowledge of to spin her own clothing & to be governed by such Rules laws and Regulations that is or may Required of Colored laborers to perform wages to be forefeited by leaving employer this contract to Remain full force & action untill it is fully complied with and when the said Hariette Dean Receives hur pay in full to be null & void and of no effect.
